Humanity creates attachments. An attachment is not something that parents do to their children. Rather, it is something that children and parents create together, in an ongoing, reciprocal relationship. Young children constantly alternate between attachment and exploring. When they are exploring, they are not in attachment. When they are in attachment, they are not exploring. When there are attachment difficulties, children will have difficult relationships.
